* Stamford student accused of gun threat
(Stamford-WTNH) _ A Stamford teen is under arrest for allegedly bringing a gun to school. It happened Wednesday at the Wright Vocational-Technical School in Stamford during auto shop class.
News Channel 8's Judy Chong reports.

State police and Stamford police kept a watchful eye on the campus today after a student was arrested. It all started yesterday shortly before noon when a fellow female classmate said she witnessed a menacing situation.

Diane Bauby, Director, Wright Tech.: "Another opened a bookbag and took out a gun."
What kind of gun?"
Bauby: "I believe a 9mm."

The 14 year old then allegedly put a fully loaded clip in the gun. When school administrators went to find him, the student was gone. He fled, running behind the school. Police found the gun tossed away off campus. The teen was arrested while out on the streets."

School officials say the 14 year old did not wave the gun around or point it at anyone. School officials also say the teen made a comment, but not one that was directed at any particular student.

Still, the 9th grader is charged with threatening, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm without a permit, and possession of a firearm on school property.

Some students say they were surprised when they heard the news.

Tasha St. Cloud, Student: "He was a good student, and I never thought he'd do a thing like this."

Many students worried about the negative publicity this story would generate, made it a point to tell reporters they are not fearful of their safety.

Daniel Garcia, Student: "I come to this school everyday with my friend I never felt unsafe. That has to be clear."

The 14 year old is being held at the Bridgeport juvenile detention facility until a May 25th court appearance. He was a local Stamford student going to the state run vo-tech school part-time. He's been suspended and the Stamford superintendent plans to recommend expulsion. No word yet on where and how the student got the gun.

There was another student who fled the school with the arrested teen. He is facing disciplinary action from the school, but not from police.
