Workers in Stonington are putting the finishing touches on a new cinema. Opening day is just hours away and they need to get ready for the crowds. People like Cathy Lathrop are already showing-up to check it out. Cathy Lathrop, Westerly: "We came to find out if "Doug's 1st Movie' is playing. My son is turning 7 and he'd like to have his birthday here and he's anxiously waiting for the movie theatre to open." So are a lot of people. This place is right off 95 and will be easy to get to. Plus when it comes to films it's always nice to have a variety. If you're not into 'The King and I' no need to worry. There are 9 others screens here. The company says that will definitely get the seats filled. Besides the big screens there's a video arcade here and a cafe. Even though there are other large theatres in the area officials say 'no problem'. Ed Marcolini, Hoyts Cinemas: "It's an audience that we haven't tapped yet and I think we're gonna do very well here." But this particular opening is not sitting well with everyone in the neighborhood. Colleen Casady for one wasn't worried about the theatre in the beginning but all that has changed. Colleen Casady, Stonington: "Now we have a movie theatre in our front yard. Before at least we had trees hiding it. I don't like looking out my window and seeing the movie theatre." So like many of their neighbors the Casadys are moving-out. They don't want to deal with the traffic the noise or the cinema's bright lights. Casady: "It wasn't that big of a deal but they took down the houses and it's a lot bigger than I thought so my husband said: 'it's time to get out!'"
