Saturday 9:15 pmIt began just after 9 o'clock Saturday, January 23, when officer Brian Aselton responded to a routine noise disturbance call at 454 Main Street in East Hartford. Moments later Aselton lay dead from a gunshot wound to the head, his killers on the run for authorities.SundayTwelve hours later officers from East Hartford and neighboring communities joined forces to catch a cop killer. By morning nearly 200 police officers - some armed with automatic weapons - combed the streets , dived in rivers and streams and searched the ground looking for the killer and the murder weapon.Chief James Shay: "Officer Aselton did not have a chance, it was unexpected thing." MondayOne day later a reward climbs from $50,000 to $80,000 as search crews continue to look the person responsible for killing the young cop.Chief State's Attorney John Bailey: "Now is the time to turn these people in so we can take care of this problem."
