* Warm Weather Bring Folks Outside
(New Haven-WTNH) _ We're out of the cold at least for now, and people flocked outside to take advantage of the unseasonable weather Sunday. Just days ago temperatures were in the single digits, 1-4" of snow covered the state, and just about everything was closed down from schools to Bradley International Airport. Quite a different scene today.
News Channel 8's Verna Collins reports.

Today was absolutely beautiful, and we saw people out doing all sorts of things outdoors that they weren't doing even yesterday - taking a walk, standing outside talking to friends, or even playing some hoops.

The warm up in the weather is a welcome sight for weekend athletes, including some basketball players we caught up with in New Haven. They say weeks of cold temperatures along with layers of ice put their games on hold - that is until today.

Verna: ""so today is the first day you've played in a while?"
Mark Bunnell, New Haven: "Yeah...."
Verna: "Obviously it's not too warm you still have the hat on."
Bunnell: "It's not that bad."

In fact, as players warmed up, most shed some of their heavier layers so they could really get into the game. And the puddles of water left behind by melting snow might have made playing a little rough, but they were not enough to keep these guys from working up a sweat.

Missy Meizies, New Haven: "You just got to get warmed up, cause we haven't played for a while so you warm up, then we have fun."

Juan Melendez and his wife Maria Flores said it was so beautiful outside today, they decided to join their sons at the court.

Juan Melendez: "A great day...."

A day their sons have been waiting for.

Jesus Camacho: "We've been out, but not playing sports or anything like that. It felt good. It feels like a good day to play sports today cause it wasn't that cold."

Angel Camacho: "I missed the game a lot so I just wanted to come out here and play. I haven't played for a long time because of the snow."
