A quick trip out took a lot longer today. Dealing with the slush, the ice and the rain in Bloomfield can be a real headache. Still after being cooped up all day yesterday some folks like the Scherer family just had to get out and do something. Lisa Scherer, West Hartford: "She (child) was getting bored and she wanted to go to the movies. We decided to take her. My husband didn't work today because the roads were so bad." Jeremy Garfinkle ended up at the movies too after his grand plan fell thru. Jeremy Garfinkle, West Hartford: "Me and my friend here were going to shovel driveways but then we found out how icy it was and how hard it would be.' It seems some drivers didn't realize just how slick the roads can be. Some found out the hard way. Car were arriving at autobody shops today. Paul Steben, Steben Autobody: "There's been an increase over the last couple of days... Fender benders. Cars are coming in or getting towed in." But for some this miserable day turned into a day for relaxation. "I already took half a day off from work so I was lucky. I am going to read and watch videos."
